Happy New Year,

As many of you may already know, the Vikings are a proud host to the Chicago Special Blackhawks Hockey Team each year in a fun and exciting charity game. This year the Special Blackhawks day is Jan 28th at 3:40-6:00pm at Arctic. Each Year the Special Blackhawks play our Midgets in two scrimmage games in an effort for our boys to interact with these great athletes and help raise money for their program to provide ice-time, equipment and an opportunity for kids and young adults of all ages with special needs to play our great game. This year will pit our U15s and U18s against the CBSH. As in years past, we ask each team to donate a raffle prize, basket, sports memorabilia, Pro Sports Tickets, or other donation items which will be raffled off during the event.  We have been so fortunate each year to surpass the previous year in money raised so we are hoping to keep that going and make this year the best ever. We ask for one basket per team however several people also donate items on their own. This year we have a very special item, A CUSTOM PAINTED NHL GOALIE MASK, Blackhawks & Vikings version, donated by our own Joe Morris (has a son, Hudson on our 2008 CS team) at www.joemorrisart.com

Chicago Blackhawks Special Hockey (CBSH) is dedicated to providing children and adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to play hockey. CBSH team members range in age from 5 to 55, and include both male and female athletes. The team is comprised of players that have Autism, Down syndrome or other intellectual disabilities. CBSH strives to promote and emphasize the development of sportsmanship, team spirit, increased confidence, pride, and team unity while having a great time in the process! This is a fantastic program, we look forward to it every year, the rink is packed, there is Chuck a Puck, raffles, food and drinks available in the bar and restaurant, tons of fun and we get to help support these amazing athletes as they play the game we all love. We look forward to seeing our entire Vikings Membership on Jan 28th at Arctic.
